Non-asbestos gaskets are primarily made from high-strength aramid fibers, high-temperature resistant rubber, special heat-resistant fibers, fiberglass, and reinforcement materials, all precisely compressed together. Depending on specific working conditions, non-asbestos gaskets are stamped and cut into various shapes using molds or various tools. These sealing products are an excellent alternative to asbestos oil-resistant rubber gaskets and are also green and environmentally friendly sealing materials.
Characteristics of Non-Asbestos Gaskets
Excellent oil and water sealing performance;
Good heat resistance with low thermal conductivity;
Wide media adaptability.
Excellent gas tightness;
High mechanical strength;
Good compression resilience
Applications of Non-Asbestos Gaskets
Non-asbestos gaskets can meet the sealing requirements of most demanding working conditions, making them cost-effective sealing materials. They have advantages that asbestos fiber rubber cannot replace, making them a good alternative to asbestos oil-resistant rubber gaskets. Currently, non-asbestos gaskets have been used in the maritime, petrochemical, aviation, automotive sectors for several decades and are ideal sealing materials for lubricating oil, fuel oil, steam, seawater, compressed air, and moderate acids and alkalis.
Precautions for Using Non-Asbestos Gaskets
Some customers ask if non-asbestos gaskets can be reused if they appear undamaged after use. Generally, gaskets are one-time use, and professional gasket paper suppliers do not recommend reuse. Due to the compression resilience properties of gaskets, elastomers will creep and relax under long-term compression, and the gaskets disassembled will no longer have their initial sealing performance. Moreover, used non-asbestos gaskets will be contaminated by the medium, and reusing them will undoubtedly cause environmental pollution and may result in leaks. Therefore, non-asbestos gaskets are considered consumables and not reusable products. However, once installed, unless there is leakage or product maintenance, non-asbestos gaskets generally do not need to be replaced.
